Fashion is somewhat a need by many people around the world nowadays - whether it's a red scarf, yellow t-shirt, white shirt or skirt - your fashion choices reflect your own mood and personality somewhat. Now we're in 2012, what would be your fashion for the upcoming year? As a student, I mostly wear a plain uniform, but it's fun to think that we can use different accessories that can make as more fashionable and expressive. Not only that, we can be fashionable without spending too much money. I still remember my favourite shoes that I wear in our school, it is terribly cool. It is a black-pointed shoe that shining whenever it was in the light. Not only that, I used to match it with my accessories like necklace and bracelet that have the same characteristics. It is indeed funny to have this kind of fashion, but for me, what is more important, is how you will carry yourself with the fashion you like. It’s not about the looks, but it’s about the attitude. |

The most iconic fashion item, the one, the unique, the MUST: It's the Handbag. No woman can go anywhere without one. It goes so well with other accessories too, like your ladies court shoes or pashmina. It's part of us, as important as wearing clothes or shoes, the handbag is the must to go out. All our life is in it, including passports, credit cards, make up, mirror, phone, anything a woman needs. We are simply lost without it. The handbag is THE fashion accessory. Even the most modest woman in the world will make sure her handbag is practical and of good taste. It also follows us during our life: As a little girl, you want a handbag just to look like your mummy. As a teenager, your handbag is mostly to look like a woman and hide all your teen secrets. As a woman, you will always have it around and will make sure it fits with your shoes or your coat. As a mother, your handbag just becomes a bag to carry all your baby's toys and snacks. The handbag is just an item we can't do without, and is, for a woman, the little touch of fashion that every woman will always have... |

I love fashion - from hair accessories to shoes. And it's the latter I wish to talk about. Shoes, boots, flip flap, flats and heals or even that well-worn pair of tennis shoes, ah the siren call. Yes, shoes are many peoples favorite fashion item. Shoes are universal. Maybe you can’t fit into a size 4 Chanel suit, but you can almost always find a pair of shoes that fit. There are styles to fit every style and every personality. They can be fun or functional. They can be a cheap pair of flip flops or the highest heel on the planet. There are multiple sites online that even offer shoe clubs where shoppers pick out the shoe that most fits you based on your personality. Shoes can make or break an outfit. Many people probably have a story about a pair of shoes that killed their feet but were still their favorite. Maybe there is an old pair of cowboy boots thrown into to back of the closet that just go with everything. Shoes, the go to style icon. |

The act of gift giving can be a stuggle for many people, which is why I always spend more time considering which gift to buy for each person. I love to make all of my gifts very personal, and even literally make them myself with my jewellery making supplies whenever it's jewellery I'm giving as a gift. I have made many gift baskets adapted to the likes of each person. Collegiate baskets are always a hit. They may include mugs, caps, throws, and candies in the teams colors. I also use a lot of photography in my gift giving ideas. There are so many gifts that can be made out of a photo. Photoshopping your photos can turn an ordinary photo into a piece of art that the receiver of the gift will cherish forever. Another idea that I have also used is to find a vintage item that the person always cherished. These items can be found on online auction sites. These gifts can range from discontinued perfumes to childhood toys that are sure to bring a flood of fond memories. Any way that that you look at it, making a gift fit the receiver will always be appreciated. |

When you find something you like, you might as well stick with it. At least that's my theory. One place that I do that is with my shoes. Nearly thirty years ago I found a style of hand-sewn deck shoes from L.L. Beans, and I have been buying these cheap shoes ever since. One pair lasts me about a year and I've probably been through around thirty pair in the time I'm been wearing them. The shoes are comfortable, look smart, and are reasonably priced. And once they have some wear on them I can demote them to work shoes and use them while working outside or mowing the lawn. It also makes it easy to decide what to buy, since the order never changes from year to year. In fact, one year I didn't have a catalog handy so I called the order line, gave them my name, and said, "please send the same shoes that I bought last year" and they were able to look it up and I had my new shoes in a few days! So if you find something you like, why change a good thing? Keep on using them until they stop making them. Come to think of it, maybe i should stockpile a few pair just in case that happens! |

I fell in love with my bag when I saw it in a Christmas shopping special a few years ago. It was a plain tan leather bag but the leather was beautiful and soft and the stitching elegant. The bag was simple: no snazzy buckles. A lot of my friends own dainty little accessories like silver clutch bags, but I love a more practical bag. Because it's big I can carry my laptop in it. Although my bag didn't cost hundreds or thousands of dollars it always attracts admiring comments when I take it out. I want to keep the bag's soft leather looking pristine for as long as possible, so I save it for special occasions or business meetings when making a good impression really matters. Just getting it out of the wardrobe puts me in a good frame of mind: i feel myself walking tall, holding myself well. The bag and I are like a team of two: we go out there to do business and face the world together. I don't have many expensive clothes but when I carry this handbag I feel well-groomed and ready for anything. |

I got on the subject of fashion with my girlfriend the other day. What was interesting for me was that she is very label-conscious. She was talking about her Forever Unique dresses or her Gina Stewart Cox bracelets - always the labels! With me - as a bloke - I'm a bit more generic when it comes to fashion. In fact, my favorite fashion item is the fedora. The fedora is a very distinctive form of hat. It is a simplistic and refined version of a top hat. The fedora matches many outfits and is my favorite because of the connotations associated with it. Wearing a fedora makes me feel smart, educated and cultured. This is akin to the feeling which many people get when they log onto their Apple computers or sip their overpriced Starbucks latte. At least in the form of fedoras this feeling is relatively inexpensive and it can be worn for many many years. Many hipster or nerdy girls are attracted to someone who is not afraid to wear a fedora and I most certainly am not afraid. The fedora matches my blue jeans, khakis or anything else that I might wear. Also, when I go to swing dance competitions around the country, the fedora complements my cultured aura. |

I would dress as Dorothy Gale from Frank L. Baum’s Wizard of Oz at a Fancy Dress Party because she is an easily recognized character and her costume is simple - surely one of the best fancy dress ideas out there! Her gingham dress and basket are easy to come by regardless of the time of year. A stuffed dog (or real one) could provide a nice conversation starter and represent her dear pet Toto.. Dorothy’s costume is also perfect if I am going with a group of friends because they can dress as other characters from the book. Jeans and a plaid flannel shirt can provide an impromptu Scarecrow costume and a black cape and green makeup will quickly serve as the Wicked Witch of the West. The fun in going as Dorothy is also in choosing whether to go the book route with the silver slippers or the movie route with the ruby ones. Either way, I am sure to have a great time. |

Chinese freshwater mussels used to be grafted up to 50 times per shell when the industry mussel was primarily the cockscomb pearl mussel. This mussel produced a large number of pearls but they were of relatively low quality and were known as ‘rice krispie’ pearls in the 1970s and 1980s. The freshwater pearl industry then moved production to the triangle shell mussel (Hyriopsis cumingii). This particular shell produces fewer pearls, 24-36 per mollusc, but they are generally much better quality and therefore produces much better freshwater pearl jewellery. The pearls are usually bought whilst still in the shell and are then taken to a first stage factory where they are cleaned and sorted by size and shape. They are then sent to processing factories where they are treated in a warm and cold chemical solution and then bleached. They are then drilled and matched into temporary strands ready for the wholesaler. |

Halloween is a very confusing holiday for me. I have never understood the purpose of having children dress up and knock on strangers doors asking for candy. I also never have dressed up so when my husband told me he was going to dress up and hand out candy this year I was a little surprised to say the least. He got us costumes even! When he stepped out in a bridal lingerie set made for a woman I almost died laughing! He held my costume in his hand and handed it over. When I opened it up and saw a suit and tie I was confused. He wanted me to be the cheating husband and he was the mistress! I was laughing so hard I was crying! Needless to say there was at least a hundred photos taken that Halloween night. I am certainly not above blackmail in any form! |
