What is the Color of Your Dream? posted on 22 March 2011 It was my very first trip to New York City, the Big Apple. An avid "Sex and the City" viewer, I imagined streets full of scantily clad women and men in business suits. I'd also imagined the cooler areas of the city to have cool Banksy prints and other thought-provoking graffiti all over the place. Instead, the streets were bustling with citizens rushing to their respective destinations. The roads were full of yellow taxis, excited tourists and the distinct scent of sewage. I took refuge in one of the many famous art museums of the city. The Metropolitan Museum of Art was my safe haven from the noisy streets and dirty air. Escaping from my unrealistic dream of New York City glamour, I found myself wandering room after room of artifacts from cultures originating from eons past. Statues, vases, armor - luring me in as I wandered an endless, overwhelming and beautiful maze. Though I had escaped the bustle of the busy city world outdoors, I felt instead that I was roaming the vast highways of history - until, I came upon a painting and the world around me stopped. It was simple. Mounted against a wall. The painting was merely the word "Photo:" written in black cursive. Located in the upper left hand corner of the painting, I was unsure what to think. Then, I looked to the bottom right. A light blue patch. Below were written the words "ceci est la couleur de mes reves." This is the color of my dreams. A simple painting and simple words by Joan Miro. Beautiful. His painting was the color and my dream of New York City.

How To Compose Music For Piano? posted on 24 August 2010 In today’s scenario many composers do not use normal musical form for creating a composition. They rely heavily on the improvisation. It’s not a wrong approach to compose music this way, however a good understanding of Music Theory should always be at the core of every composition. For example- a minor scale and 3 chords used to create theme with 3 variations. This example or you can say this particular sound is quite in use. And the reason behind using this sound is that many students are familiar with this sound. Theme of a piano is itself is very simple. A piano theme consist of a two-8 bar phrases and that two-8 bar phrases can be said A and B. For producing the first variation two sections are played through. It consist of a broken chord in left hand and for producing second variation a simple crossover pattern using the same chord is used, it may be noted here that this technique of producing second variation is only for this time. These two variations give the necessary contrast without breaking or interrupting the mood of melody. Now the time of last variation has just arrived. For producing last variation I am using 8 or 16th this time as I play with breaking up the melody. Now, let’s go back to the theme. The piece which is made after these variations is a required music piece. You see that this music piece contains a theme and without disturbing the mood of the theme, we made some variations. So, this is the required piece of music.
